Dunedin Blue Jays

For most of my life, the Toronto Blue Jays organization's Low-A ball team has called Dunedin home, yet I’ve always wished for them to establish a distinct identity apart from their MLB counterpart. Historically, their visual identity and uniforms have mirrored the Blue Jays, sharing not only the name but also many of the branding elements that defined the major league team.

In my rebranding exploration, I sought to create a fresh visual identity that honors the rich culture of Dunedin and Florida while still acknowledging their connection to the Blue Jays. Drawing inspiration from the innovative designs seen in NCAA baseball uniforms, such as those created by Nike for the Oregon Ducks, I envisioned a bold and dynamic look that would differentiate the Low-A team in the crowded MiLB landscape.

By intentionally omitting the name "Blue Jays" from the branding, I aimed to emphasize the uniqueness of the team and its roots, allowing it to shine in its own right while still maintaining a nod to its major league lineage. The new design incorporates elements that reflect the local culture—bright colors that evoke the Florida sun, playful graphics inspired by the area’s natural beauty, and a modern font that speaks to a younger audience.

This rebranding effort is more than just a visual refresh; it’s about fostering a sense of community and pride among the fans in Dunedin. By creating an identity that resonates with the local culture, I hope to cultivate a loyal fanbase that feels a genuine connection to the team. Ultimately, my goal is to position this Low-A team not merely as a minor league affiliate but as an integral part of the Dunedin community, embodying its spirit and celebrating its identity.
